The Digital Multimedia Evidence Processing Lab at UIndy provided the lead story for Friday’s Indianapolis Star.
The lab is operated in partnership with the international Law Enforcement & Emergency Services Video Association, which recently came to the aid of Canadian authorities investigating rioting and looting that took place earlier this year in Vancouver, B.C.
Fifty forensic video analysts from Canada, the U.S. and the U.K. spent two weeks at UIndy this fall processing more 5,000 hours of professional and amateur video shot during the June incident. With that evidence, detailing more than 15,000 criminal acts, Vancouver’s Integrated Riot Investigation Team expects to seek charges against several hundred people.
