Intellectual property rights around the world will be the topic Thursday when UIndy hosts a traveling group from the U.S. Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program.
Scholars and business and government representatives from Afghanistan, Bulgaria, India, Poland, Romania, Tunisia and Uruguay will discuss intellectual property issues and speak with faculty and graduate students from 10:30 to noon Thursday in Schwitzer Student Center. The roundtable discussion is hosted by UIndy’s International Relations program, in partnership with the International Center of Indianapolis, and coordinated by Associate Professor Jyotika Saksena.
The State Department program is intended to promote appreciation for the rule of law in the global trade and business communities; to encourage public- and private-sector accountability in implementing intellectual property protections worldwide; and to examine the impact of technology on intellectual property protection and the development of new laws and policies in response to new technology.
