Sunshine and blue skies Thursday made a beautiful setting for the 23rd annual edition of a favorite fall milestone on the UIndy campus, the Celebration of the Flags.

The highlight is an Olympic-style procession of flags representing the home countries of the university’s students, faculty and staff, with many participants dressed in traditional ethnic clothing. Currently, 66 nations including the United States are represented in the UIndy community.

The program also included remarks from university President Beverley Pitts, student government President Valerie Wilson and international student Felix Baum, a junior finance major from Germany. After the ceremony, the crowd enjoyed an assortment of international snacks.

The Celebration of the Flags is organized each year by UIndy’s International Division office, which supports international students and U.S. students studying abroad. The university’s international presence includes a branch campus in Athens, Greece, and partnership sites in Asia and Latin America.
