Educators from around the world are gathered this week at the University of Indianapolis Athens Campus for the Third International Symposium on Service Learning.
UIndy is the chief sponsor and organizer of the Nov. 22-24 event, in collaboration with Indiana Campus Compact, Miami University of Ohio and Ningbo Institute of Technology in China.
UIndy, known for its “Education for Service” motto, launched the symposium to explore the various issues surrounding the incorporation of community service into learning and research. This year’s theme is “Service Learning in Higher Education: Educators, Communities, and Students.” UIndy’s Phylis Lan Lin, sociology professor and associate vice president for international partnerships, is the symposium chair.
